A STORY WITH THE GREAT CHARIOT

Astropoems and photographs
by participants at SARM’s Perseids XV Camp
(2007 July 17-30, Pension with Many Horses, Sancrai, Covasna, Romania)

“Soon we shall cross
the Great Chariot.” -
said the pilot.

-Gabriel Ivanescu-

...

I know it sounds incredible,
but an astronomical camp is a magic chariot
that can transport you
through heavenly stories.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Even if you are surrounded
by the best friends
or by a sea of unknown people,
the Perseid Camp has always
its own charm.

-Cristina Tinta-

To teach astronomy
means to tell beauty
in celestial metre.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Is this horse just Pegasus
lowered on Earth
with wings hidden by sunlight?

Or… just a candidate
to be harnessed
to the Great Chariot?

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Looking at the world with the eyes of your mind
If you don’t see a cumulus in the sky (please don't faint)
Maybe you’ll be surrounded by a mystery
The solar wind shining as a saint

-DAN-

Lake Sfanta Ana, Romania.
Created many thousand years ago,
after the eruption of a volcano.

Great Chariot, Canopy of Heaven.
Created many million years ago,
after the eruption of the Big Bang.

Is there any connection?

Sometimes in the night
the astral vehicle mirrors itself
in the water echo.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Astronomy means both feeling and knowledge.
Astronomy is a whole
composed of the Sky and the Earth,
in which people can try the joy of freedom.

-Valentin Grigore-

In the evening
the camp enlivened:
people swarmed with telescopes
and amazingly shouted after spectacular meteors.

-Eugen Florin Marc-

Don't worry, there is no break...

I saw people
finding lunar details
and merrily jumping.

-Alexandru Conu-

Selene’s brightness
covers timid meteors.
On the other side of the sky,
the Great Chariot just moonbathes.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Among dark tree branches,
over a large valley,
here comes the
scarred moon.

-MIHAI-

Look! The Moon!
Look! Heavenly bodies!
Look! My fist like a stake:
I hit and punch
stellar distances.

-Ruxandra Toma-

Children like so much
to stay on the grass beach,
on the shore of the sky,
under the cosmic tree!

-Felician Ursache and Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Thoughtful guides of the night
I mildly look for you between
whispers of hidden memories
animated by eternal twinkles

-Cristina Slovineanu-

I look at the clear sky
A hungry watcher
I return to the stars
As if sometimes I would forget them

-ADI-

Do we stay
near the Great Chariot?
It’s just an illusion.
We are always included
in its magic.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

...

…and maybe astronomers from some exoplanets
really see our solar system
carried in the Cosmos
by a magic and great chariot.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-
