“Dear friends of the sky from all over the world:
the Romanian Society for Meteors and Astronomy (SARM)
thanks you very much for your contributions to this special edition
of our TV Show, Noi si Cerul / Us and the Sky,
and for your good cooperation.
We wish you a happy New Year and clear skies for 2012.
Astronomy has an universal dimension
and creates invisible connections between people.
One People, One Sky,
now at Columna TV.”

-Valentin Grigore-

Usually people think that
encounters between the Moon and Venus
are pretexts for talk
about fashion from the Solar Designer,
but I think that Venus and the Moon
are two coquettish accountants
who number the stars
shaded by their shine.

“Hello,
my name is Mike Simmons,
the founder and president of Astronomers Without Borders
and I’m very happy once again to greet all of our friends in Romania
and “Us and the Sky” Romanian television.

Now I want to mention why astronomy is important to us,
as we end this year and look towards another one.
Astronomy, we’ve found,
is very important because it connects us with our ancestors,
as well as our descendants.
We know that people have always looked to the sky;
we have these myths and stories about people going back thousands of years.
We know our descendants will as well.
It also connects us together around the world
and that’s what Astronomers Without Borders does.
So, while I’m looking up at the sky at night I know that
the people in Romania and other countries will be seeing the same things
later on during their night.
We all share the same sky and it’s something that we all have in common,
astronomy belongs to every culture and has lasted throughout history.
In fact, our slogan at Astronomers Without Borders is “One People, One Sky”.
And that common thread brings us together in a way that goes
beyond borders and cultural differences and religions, just one as humanity.
(…)
The night sky and the Universe are there for all of us
and they’ll continue to be there forever.
It’s only for us to look up at it and wonder and enjoy and get a sense of
who we are and where we really are.
So I can only say to keep looking up
and give you all my best wishes
to all my friends in Romania for a wonderful star field 2012.”

-Mike Simmons-

Stars of the heavens
walk over earthly nature -
divine modesty

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

I know I am a star chip
That’s why I see in friendship
Neither just a feeling
Nor just a gleaming
But the flight of a star ship.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Oh space-time just an
infinite combination
pigmented by stars

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Love the Creation!
Really happy those who are
creative branches!

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Sky super-lovers -
stellar enthusiasm for
our cosmic dreams

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Sun, moon and stars -
existential pillars for
the living people.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

The basic fact for sky stories
is that
the army of light
penetrates
the army of darkness.

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

“The New Year 2012
is a constellation of 366 stars
that await to be discovered
to fill your house and your soul
with light.
Life has come from stars
so let’s hope in them!”

-Nicolae Dobrescu-

“I am a proud child
of human civilization,”
said Light Pollution,
“so what do you want from me?”
“I want to drive you away,”
I replied,
“because I am a barbarian child
of the clear, starry and wild sky.”

-Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Northern Lights
or Aurora Borealis,
a name combined from
the Roman goddess of dawn
(variant of Greek Eos)
and the Greek god of North Wind, Boreas.
As if Aurora emigrated to the northern world,
leaving the almighty god Zeus / Jupiter
for another supreme god, Odhin,
more vulnerable,
so more human.

With love and joy
defeating the perihelion
fabulous comet

“The Romanian Society for Meteors and Astronomy (SARM)
thanks you all for your good cooperation in 2011,
for promoting astronomy and education through astronomy,
and for your dedication and devotion you showed.
We will await you again in 2012 under the starry sky,
our common gift of universal dimension,
which needs to be more appreciated and even defended.
We stimulate you to teach and help others
to discover the beauties of the sky.
The starry sky must be part of our lives.”

…and…

have a
Happy
Global Astronomy Month
in 2012!!!
