HIGH MORNING
(Bucharest, November 15, 2020)
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

Venus calling the
little big Arcturus and
the big little Sun

SWANS OF CISMIGIU
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

On October 23, 2020
I admired swans in the old Cismigiu,
the most central park in Bucharest.

The Sun guessed my thoughts and said:
”Don’t think of Cygnus and other celestial birds.
Just enjoy what you see.”

SWANS IN THE YOUTH PARK
(Bucharest, December 4 and 12, 2020)
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

Frozen Mars inspired me
to go to the Youth Park
to see his warm and vivid swans.

Then I climbed the steps
to the King’s observatory cupola
and wondered if His Majesty
saw from here a frozen planet
around 1900.

DECEMBER 15-16, 2020, RUNCU STONE
Astro-photo-poem by Valentin Grigore

Day sequences:

Love the heights!
They bring us above the sea of clouds!

Night sequences:

1. The Goat and Her Three Kids in Romanian folklore:
Capela (Alpha Aurigae) is a shining mark star
(zero magnitude:
brighter stars have a negative magnitude
while the stars less bright than it have a positive magnitude).
Close to it, a triangle with three small stars:
Haedus, Saclateni and Almaaz.

2. Jupiter and Saturn,
closer to their great meeting.

3. Zodiacal light,
another way of light.

4. Winter constellations,
mist and powder from the Milky Way
shaken on the ground.

5. Glory and stars
through the fog!

SUNSET COMBINATIONS
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

The Neo-Romanian style in architecture
used many solar-floral elements.

On October 18, 2020
I combined three modest Bucharestian houses in this style
with three stages of a sunset,
and in the last one I saw,
among the branches of the trees,
the Sun dissipating into a few small stars.

“US AND THE SKY”
Haiku by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe, collages by Valentin Grigore

Hard times for people,
much sky beauty - the year of
Comet NEOWISE!

In the pandemic
“Us and the Sky” TV Show
brave sky agenda

SUNRISE COMBINATIONS
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

On November 8, 2020
I combined four remarkable houses
in the Neo-Brancovenesc and Neo-Romanian styles
with five pictures from a sunrise series.

Five gold medals
for just four buildings.

BUCHAREST, NOVEMBER 27-28, 2020
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

I am an alien visiting Terra
and representing a superior civilization.
At first the earthlings seemed nice to me,
suggesting me to look at their natural satellite,
which I caught when it was still oval.

But the next day I watched
the final of the Romanian Rugby Cup on TV
and saw two tribes of barbarians fighting for the Moon,
which they had turned into an oval ball.

CLOUDY DAYS
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

Cloudy December in 2020 in Bucharest.

However,
timid Sun (December 11 and 15),
strange sunset near the
children’s observatory (December 15),
the Sun with an aureole (December 20),
some more hope (December 23),
three small roles of the Sun
in a minute (December 24)…

On Christmas Eve,
the Sun just like a luminous clover,
and on Christmas Morning,
the Sun just like a crowded fruit of light.

45

BUCHAREST, NOVEMBER 22, 2020
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

A sunny day with the joy
of seeing beautiful old houses
and letting the Moon
announce beautiful old stars.

AMONG PANDEMIC CLOUDS
(Bucharest, November 11, 2020)
Astro-photo-haiku by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

I was an old man
following the Sun in the
Children’s World - Youth Park

47

IN NAME OF BEAUTY
(Bucharest, November 16, 2020)
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

Once I arrested Venus
because she was shining too brightly
in the sky.

Then I condemned her to walk
in my city.

But she shone too little here
because of the sunlight,
so finally I had to restore
her celestial freedom.

MORNING MATCH
(Bucharest, November 27, 2020)
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

Mammatus versus Sun.
Winner on points: Sun!

PANDEMIC EVENING PREOCCUPATIONS
Astro-photo-poem by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

One evening I wanted to see what the people do in my neighborhood
during the new pandemic restrictions
and noticed:
a young boy walking with an electric scooter,
and a pretty girl walking on her feet,
an adult riding a bicycle,
a mother walking with her girl,
a couple walking with a dog,
a little girl watching a ghost that played football…

I really liked a young princess studying in nature
the secrets of the Universe,
while Jupiter, Mars and the Moon
secretly admired her.

THE GREAT CONJUNCTION OF THE GIANTS
Astro-photo-poem by Valentin Grigore

November 27, 2020, Targoviste.
Jupiter and Saturn
getting closer to each other in the sky.
I also saw three satellites of Jupiter.

December 15, 2020, Runcu Stone.
Jupiter and Saturn,
the celebrities of this end of the year.
From a place above the clouds
just because at home in Targoviste
it's like we're in a cauldron with the lid on.

December 20-22, 2020.
Escapes from the terror of the clouds,
which have been stationed for a few weeks in southern Romania.
Three consecutive days in which we went by car (60 km)
from Targoviste to the Dichiu Chalet.(1596 m altitude),
then with our feet (carrying the equipment on our backs)
to the Vanturis Top (1925 m altitude),
passing through the layer of clouds (from 1200 m to 1700 m).
On the top, the landscape was fantastic:
white peaks, clouds under us,
happy people watching the wonder:
Jupiter and Saturn, above mountains and clouds…
Until now, no one in life has seen them so close to each other.
They also looked incredible through the telescope.
A marvellous time spent with friends under the sky.

A wonder: Jupiter-Saturn 2020.
Two luminous points, not one,
seeming like an elongated bright spot.
Above the world, above the clouds, closer to the stars.
Amazement, delight and emotion
in the face of the greatness of heaven.
Those who will see the next big meeting between the giant planets,
Jupiter and Saturn,
on March 15, 2080,
will probably feel the same way.
